The 5 Best Diet Tips for After the Holiday Weekend

1. Never allow yourself to become too hungry when you are actively trying to lose weight. Be sure to eat between four and six small meals through the day.

2. Break your addiction to sugar and simple carbs immediately. Do this by eating small amounts of protein and healthy fats with each meal and by increasing the “volume” of your meals.  Add LOTS of vegetable and a little fruit to your diet.  Do not go a day without eating protein.

3. If calories & nutritional information are not available, use the “eyeball method” for estimating your protein  intake. You can eat a piece of lean protein about the size and width of your palm with each meal.  Once you begin losing weight, or reach your goal, you may wish to decrease this amount.

4. 70% of your diet should consist of “live,” whole, unprocessed, water-rich foods. This primarily means vegetables and fruits.  Many vegetables require nearly as much energy for    digestion as they contain, and they are packed with phytonutrients.

5. Eat small amounts of raw, unsalted nuts and seeds throughout the day.  But not more than 1/2 cup total for the day! These healthy fats don’t make you fat.  SUGAR makes you fat by spiking insulin.  You need a substantial amount of healthy fats in your diet when you start losing weight, for your hard earned muscles.  Nuts & seeds are calorie dense...don’t unconsciously grab a handful and not measure!
